The MIRA Soapbox, which recently achieved racing success, will be on display in the reception area of Hinckley’s Midland Studio College for the next three months. Designed and built by the company’s graduates and apprentices, the Soapbox finished an excellent 3rd fastest out of the 31 teams racing in this year’s Hinckley Soapbox derby.
MIRA’s Senior Operations Manager Dave Hockton said,
“When I was approached by Midland Studio College, I had no hesitation in allowing them to borrow the MIRA soapbox. The Studio College is focused on delivering an all-round engineering education and I’m delighted that MIRA can support them. Perhaps seeing MIRA’s Soapbox will inspire some of the students to enter next year’s soapbox derby?
We recently had some of the Midland Studio College’s students here to tour MIRA’s laboratories and test tracks, and in the future we will be offering work placements to some of the college’s students too.”
The Midland Studio College is a new type of school designed to help young people succeed at work. It offers excellent teaching and learning, one-to-one coaching, real work experience and the development of core personal skills including communication and teamwork.
