The 22 January 2018 saw the fourth annual De-Mystifying EMC event held by Rohde & Schwarz. This year the event was held at the Silverstone Wing, Silverstone Race Circuit in Northamptonshire.
Stuart Aust, Senior Compliance Engineer in the Certification and Homologation Department at HORIBA MIRA, presented a paper on ‘Technical Documentation for CE Marking’.
The presentation explained where the requirement for Technical Documentation comes from, what the minimum requirements are, highlighted some of the less obvious requirements and revealed some market surveillance information that clearly demonstrates the need for accurate and complete Technical Documentation.
Presentation Abstract
Directives that require CE Marking also require the manufacturer, or their authorised representative, to create and maintain Technical Documentation (TD). The seminar covered the minimum requirements for TD and highlighted the not-so-obvious elements that are required and which a Notified Body or Authorized Enforcement Official will be looking for. Recommendations made along the way for good practise and to ensure traceability of the subject of the TD, which is also a requirement of CE marking directives.
