New College Starters Given A Behind-The-Scenes Tour Of MIRA’s Nuneaton Headquarters
As part of the induction programme for young people joining Year 10 at The Midland Studio College Hinckley this September, MIRA opened its doors to a select group of students looking to start a career in the engineering industry.
Around forty engineering students spent time at MIRA, the whole vehicle engineering and test consultancy, where they received a guided tour of the facilities including a lap on the proving ground and an overview of the exciting future developments at MIRA’s new technology park.
Many of the students commented on how much they enjoyed their experience and their aspirations to work as engineers at MIRA in the future.
The event highlights MIRA’s continuing commitment to providing young people in the local community with the foundations for a successful career in the UK engineering industry.
Lisa Rowles, Senior Personnel and Security Manager at MIRA said,
“MIRA has been supporting The Midland Studio College to provide young people with the valuable knowledge and experience that they need in order to pursue a successful career in the engineering industry. By showing the students some of the special work that we do here behind the scenes and by giving them a unique opportunity to talk to some of the world’s leading experts in vehicle engineering, MIRA and the Midland Studio College hope to inspire the engineers of the future.”
Dan Rosser, Executive Principal of the Midland Studio College, said:
“At the beginning of July we welcomed our first cohort of learners to our transition week. The three day event was a great success with many new friendships built, individual skills developed and expectations for the coming academic year shared. One highlight of the week was a visit to MIRA. Students were given a unique insight into the world of engineering through a guided tour around the state-of-the-art site, as well as a trip around the proving ground on a double-decker bus!
“As we continue to develop our partnerships with local business such as MIRA, we are confident that the Midland Studio College will equip the next generation of engineers with the work skills, knowledge and qualifications necessary to bring success to the local community”.
