Dr. Pawel Jaworski

In 2014 Pawel completed his PhD in advanced traffic control methods for mixed CAV environments and joined HORIBA MIRA. Since then Pawel has participated in multiple research and engineering projects. His research interests lie in new methods for development and testing of efficient CAV, distributed cooperative vehicular situation awareness and cooperative decision making.

In 2018 Pawel assumed leadership of the newly formed Horizon Scanning CAV research team, which has been involved in a wide array of research projects, ranging from exploring application of brain-computer interfaces in human-CAV interaction to the DigiCAV project aiming to create a modular and saleable simulation platform for accelerated CAV development and evaluation. He is responsible for planning and leading CAV research activities, as well as designing and developing software and simulation platforms to support research in multiple areas.

Paul Wooderson MEng CEng MIET

Paul Wooderson is Chief Engineer and leads the cybersecurity team at HORIBA MIRA. He is a Chartered Engineer with 20 years’ experience in embedded systems security in the automotive and previously smartcard domains.

Paul’s responsibilities include technical delivery and development of HORIBA MIRA’s cybersecurity engineering, consultancy, testing and assessment solutions. He is a UK Expert to the international ISO and UNECE working groups developing new standards and regulations for cybersecurity engineering and software updates for road vehicles. He has played a lead role in the recent cybersecurity-related collaborative research projects ResiCAV, 5StarS and UK CITE, and has several publications on side channel attacks and automotive cybersecurity engineering.

Dr. Alastair Ruddle

Alastair Ruddle is currently Chief Scientist for Vehicle Resilience Technologies at HORIBA MIRA. Prior to joining HORIBA MIRA in 1996 he carried out research in a number of disciplines in the defence and power industries.

His research interests include computational electromagnetics, electromagnetic measurements, EMC and antenna engineering, human exposure to electromagnetic fields and cybersecurity. He is the author/co-author of more than 160 publications, including articles published in journals and presented at international symposia as well as book chapters.

Dr. Ruddle is a Senior Member of the IEEE and is registered as a Chartered Physicist and a Chartered Engineer in the UK. He represents the UK Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders on the BSI committee GEL 106 (human exposure to electromagnetic fields) and participates in a number of international standards activities relating to the assessment human exposure to electromagnetic fields and the validation of computational electromagnetics techniques.

Dr. Garikayi Madzudzo

Dr. Garikayi Madzudzo is currently employed as the Cyber Security Lead within Horiba-MIRA’s Mobility Innovation Hub. His role involves conducting research and consultancy in automotive cyber security within the organisation. Garikayi’s PhD at Coventry University was in automotive cybersecurity management and focused on cybersecurity knowledge sharing in the automotive sector.

Garikayi’s academic achievements also include a MSc in Forensic Computing, a BSc (Hons) degree in Networking and Mobile Computing, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE). His research interests currently lie in knowledge of emerging technologies in the automotive sector, automotive cyber security knowledge management, network security and digital forensics.

CCAAR Leadership

Kevin Vincent – CCAAR Director (Coventry University)

Kevin Vincent is Director of the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Automotive Research. He has over 30 years’ experience in automotive and aerospace product and business development in the private and public sectors. With a background in engineering simulation and optimization, his passion is promoting research and impact in safe, efficient and accessible forms of mobility. He currently chairs the Research Advisory Board for the Automotive Electronic Systems Innovation Network, part of Techworks, leads the digitalization workstream for the UK Automotive Council’s Intelligent Connected and Automated Mobility mission (Regulation and Resilience theme) and is a member of the interoperability and marketing groups at CAM Testbed UK, feeding into strategic roadmaps for the development of automation with a wide remit from technical regulation to policy and implementation to champion the UK’s connected and self-driving vehicle ecosystem.

Dr. Garikayi Madzudzo – CCAAR Co-Chair (Horiba-MIRA)

Garikayi is co-chair for the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Automotive Research. Prior to completing his PhD at Coventry University, Garikayi worked in the faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing, teaching computing, networking and digital forensics modules.

His research interests and contributions are in cybersecurity knowledge management in the automotive sector, digital forensics, and network security.

Liz Rowlson – Project Manager (Coventry University)

Liz is currently the Clean Growth and Future Mobility Programme Manager at Coventry University.

Liz joined the University in July 2012 as the Project Officer for the ERDF funded Sustainable Building Futures project and thereafter, as Project Manager for the EU H2020 TInnGO project, coordinated by Coventry University and Research Delivery Support Partner for the Research Centre for Manufacturing and Materials.

Prior to joining the university, Liz spent 12 years working as a Project Manager in the commercial recruitment sector for Reed Managed Services and subsequently, for South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust/Warwickshire Primary Care Trust on a variety of business change and process implementation projects, in conjunction with blue-chip organisations across the UK.
